Welcome to our half-day course on Workplace Violence Awareness! In this course, you'll gain a clear understanding of the types of workplace aggression, learn to identify situations and personal characteristics that can lead to conflict, and discover effective actions to take when involved in a conflict situation.
Through engaging role-play activities, you'll get hands-on experience practising proven techniques for defusing conflict, including active listening, assertive communication, and de-escalation strategies. You'll receive valuable feedback from our experienced trainers, giving you the skills and confidence to manage challenging situations at work.
This introductory level course is perfect for frontline employees who want to understand the types of workplace violence and harassment that can occur, the impact that this can have, and the strategies that can help them to recognise, report, and defuse conflict situations effectively.
Managers and supervisors should instead consider our Managing Workplace Violence course, which will better suit their needs.
By actively participating in this course, you will learn how to:
Describe and correctly identify different types of workplace aggression.
Explore the personal characteristics, situations, and design features that may promote violent behaviour and apply this knowledge to your own workplace.
Practice defusing conflict situations by employing a range of proven techniques in a role-play-based activity.
Recognise ‘red flags’ that signpost aggression and understand when to leave, what information to collect, and how to report incidents.
If you are attending through our Virtual Classroom, you will need a laptop or PC with Microsoft Teams installed. All course materials and activity sheets will be sent electronically before the course.
If you are attending this course in our Training Centre or Onsite at your workplace, you do not need to bring anything with you except for a notepad and pen. All course materials will be provided by the trainer.
