AAT Exam Information

Before booking your exam

If you are booking a Synoptic Assessment, it is your responsibility to ensure that you book during the appropriate week (see link below).  We generally make preparations for exams around 4 days prior to the exam date; if we have to cancel your exam because you have not booked the correct window, your invigilation fee will not be refunded.

For Using Accounting Software Exams, please contact us prior to booking to discuss your requirements.  We have limited software options available and it is your responsibility to ensure that the correct software/version will be available for your exam.  

We are and EPA (End Point Assessment) registered Centre and can accept external candidates for these exams.  You must ensure that you mention on your booking that you need an EPA exam.  EPA exam fees must be paid to Skilltec Training in advance. 

OUR CENTRE

We are located in the City Centre High Street and our exam rooms are not sound-proof.  On occasion there may be outside noise that is beyond our control.  Foam earplugs are provided but please feel free to bring your own earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones too (headphones with wireless connectivity abilities are not permitted).

Our Centre is located on the 2nd floor with no lift access - apologies for any inconvenience.

 

Exam Fees & Payment Links

When booking, please check very carefully that you have entered your email address correctly, otherwise you will not receive your confirmation or payment link emails. 

When you make your booking you will receive an automatic email notification; we have to raise the payment link manually and this will be sent to you within 2 working days.  If you have not received it by the third working day, please check your Junk Folder.  If you haven't received the link please contact us on 01752 227330 (Option 1) or by email to trainingsupport@skilltec.co.uk.

Payment links are valid for 7 days from the date they are sent to you (unless your exam date is sooner); if the link expires and you have not settled your exam fees, your exam slot will be released.

Your fee will be made up of the AAT Exam Fee plus a £42 Invigilation Fee.  Fees for 2021 are currently*:

*These fees do not apply to EPA Exams.

Please note that the exam code in the payment link may differ from the AAT exam code, or from those used by your Training Provider; we use these purely for internal purposes and this will not affect your booking.  We will always check with you on the day which exam you are expecting to take so in the unlikely event that the wrong exam has been booked, we can sort this out very quickly for you on the day.

 

Your Responsibilities 

We are currently operating with a skeleton staff and due to increased time-pressure and work involved in keeping the Centre a clean and safe environment, it’s important that all exams start on time and that you fulfil your responsibilities as outlined below. 

  • You must arrive no later than ***09:45 / 13:45***; candidates will enter the exam room 10 minutes before the scheduled start time, at which point no further candidates can be checked in. Be prepared that there may be a queue to get checked in. 
  • Latecomers will be refused entry to the exam. 
  • You must present valid ID upon arrival at the Centre. Please see acceptable forms of ID below.
  • If you are unable to present acceptable identification, you will be refused entry to the exam.
  • Face coverings are now required to be worn in all common areas of the Centre but these may be removed once you are seated at your desk; please bring your own masks/face coverings (and gloves if you would like to wear these) as we are not able to provide them to you.
  • If you do not have a face covering you will be refused entry to the exam.
  • Please bring your own stationery and calculators (we do not have enough calculators for everyone so please don’t take the risk).
  • If you bring a pencil case, this must be clear/see-through.
  • If you are driving to the Centre, we recommend that you use a pay-on-foot car park in case we have an unexpected delay. Please find information on local car parks here.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU ARE REFUSED ENTRY TO THE EXAM DUE TO ANY OF THE ABOVE, YOUR INVIGILATION FEE WILL NOT BE REFUNDED OR TRANSFERRED.

***Candidates who feel unwell or have a persistent cough and/or fever, MUST NOT attend the Centre under any circumstances***

***If you arrive at the Centre with visible signs of illness, we may request that you leave and come back on another date – your £42 invigilation fee will not be refunded or transferred***

***In addition, if you or anyone in your household have experienced symptoms of Covid-19 infection within the 14-day period prior to your exam, please do not attend the Centre***

 

Identification

You must provide one of the following forms of photographic identification before you can sit your exam:  

  • current valid (signed) full UK or country of origin passport
  • current valid (signed) national identity (ID) card
  • current valid European Economic Area (EEA) member state ID card
  • current full or provisional UK/EU photocard driving licence
  • current residency permit issued by the Home Office
  • current valid CitizenCard (accompanied by a credit/debit card as proof of signature) 

If your registered name is different to that on your identity document, you will need to present supporting documentation such as an original copy of your marriage or deed poll certificate (photocopies cannot be accepted).

If you don’t have any of the above, please contact the Centre on trainingsupport@skilltec.co.uk for advice prior to your exam

As mentioned above, without suitable identification your exam cannot be conducted - if your exam has to be cancelled due to a lack of suitable identification, your £42 invigilation fee will not be refunded or transferred to another date.

 

What you can take into the Exam Room

  • Stationery – loose or in a transparent case.
  • Calculators – these must not:
    • emit any sounds.
    • be part of another electronic device i.e. your mobile phone.
    • be capable of storing data.
  • A water bottle with a lid.
  • A jumper or cardigan but not a coat or jacket.
  • A face mask – you may use a scarf or bandana if you don’t have a mask.
  • Noise cancelling headphones – these must not have wireless capabilities of any kind.

 

What you cannot take into the Exam Room

  • Mobile phones or any other electronic device.
  • Reference materials or note paper – we will provide you with blank note paper.
  • Food or snacks.
  • Cups of tea/coffee etc.
  • Coats or jackets.
  • Smart watches.

 

Social Distancing

We have taken measures to ensure that social distancing rules can be adhered to at all times, and it is expected that these will be fully respected by anyone who visits the Centre.

What we are doing.

  • There is a wall-mounted sanitisation station in the lobby area of the building which we ask that you use before coming up to the Centre.
  • Only one candidate is permitted to enter the Reception Area at a time; you can see through the window whether it is possible to enter. If another candidate or staff member is already in Reception, please queue in the corridor at a distance of 1m apart (this will be indicated by markers on the hand rail) until the area is empty and a staff member has indicated that you can come in.
  • We have set up seating in the Rest Areas which is appropriately distanced; a staff member will advise which seat you may take.
  • Hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes will be available in the Rest Areas and Exam Room.

In addition to the above, we have implemented a rigorous cleaning regime in which we will wipe down all common surfaces with antibacterial wipes including (but not limited to) desks, keyboards, mice, door handles and other appropriate surfaces. We will do this before candidates arrive at the Centre and in-between exam sessions. 

We will also ask that you wipe down your own workstation before you leave the Exam Room; wipes will be provided.

Candidates who do not respect the rules of social distancing may be asked to leave and your £42 invigilation fee will not be returned or transferred; this will result in the loss of your £42 invigilation fee.

What you can do.

As mentioned above, we will not be able to provide you with gloves or masks/face coverings, but we actively encourage you to bring your own*. Please note that you may be asked to temporarily remove any face coverings for identification purposes. Full-coverage masks such as balaclavas are not permitted.

*if Government advice changes between now and the date your exam session to insist that face coverings are worn in enclosed spaces, you will be responsible for providing your own face covering. If you do not have one, you may be refused entry to the exam.

 

Our Cancellation Policy

Due to the incredibly high demand we have for exam slots at the moment, we have a strict cancellation policy;

  • If you need to cancel or rearrange your exam, you must notify the Centre by email to trainingsupport@skilltec.co.uk no later than 1 week before the exam date.
  • we regret that notices of cancellation received within 1 week of the exam date will result in the loss of your £42 invigilation fee; if you cancel, the exam cost itself will be returned to you; if you reschedule, the fee will be transferred the new date.
  • If you or anyone in your household develop symptoms of Covid-19 infection within 1 week of the date of the exam, please contact us immediately by email to trainingsupport@skilltec.co.uk for advice.

We understand how important your exams are to you, so we will only cancel or rearrange them if it is absolutely necessary; if a situation arises which means we cannot hold your exam in line with the strict invigilation rules set out to us by the AAT, we will contact you as soon as possible to inform you of this.

In the unlikely event that we have to cancel or rearrange your exam, Skilltec Training cannot be held liable for costs incurred by the candidate (such as travel costs). Your full examination fees will be transferred to another suitable date or returned to you upon request.

 

Exam Results

Unfortunately, it will not be possible to provide you with a print-out of your results at the end of the exam session; where appropriate, your exam result will be visible on your myAAT account, usually within a few hours.
